Since my brother started driving and dad gave up skiing, we’ve been going to Madonna. This is because across the Italian Alpine Arc, it was (not anymore) the ONLY one with more than one bar and more than one pizzeria.

Madonna since the early 2000s started having plenty of après ski spots, night clubs, restaurants and bars to stretch out the night. Not something you would do a lot whilst skiing all day, but as 20 somethings we were attracted by the nightlife as much as by the INFINITE slopes Madonna offers.
Madonna di Campiglio IS skier’s (and snowboarders’) paradise. There’s a unified ski area that includes Pinzolo and Folgarida-Marilleva totalling 150-156km (around 97mi) of runs, serviced by 60 lifts (highest point being ~2,700m.
This means you can also stay in Folgarida or Pinzolo and still be able to reach the Madonna di Campiglio mountains!
Whether you’re seeking gentle cruisers or challenging descents, there’s something for every level — from beginner slopes to black diamonds like the legendary Canalone Miramonti, often featured in World Cup slalom races.
🌞 Summer in the Mountains
Once the snow melts, the Dolomites reveal another side of their beauty. Madonna di Campiglio becomes a lush alpine playground with:
450 km+ of trails for hiking & mountain biking through forests and meadows.
The entire Alpine arc is beautiful on a motorbike too, we sometimes do some passes on our Vespas and it’s super fun, clean fresh air (which in August is a premium) and great food.
Val Genova and Nardis Waterfalls — stunning natural highlights just a short drive or hike from town. Info here
Via ferrata routes, horseback riding, golf, and paragliding for adventure seekers.
Relaxed afternoons enjoying an Italian aperitivo in Piazza Sissi as the mountains glow in the evening light.
Now let’s cut to the chase - Campiglio is full of great hotels, we normally rent flats as some have kids, or simply is easier to sometimes cook at home or keeping the good skier’s regime of healthy breakfast super early in the morning before hitting the slopes as soon as they open!
WHERE TO STAY
All hotels I recommend I have personally stayed or close friends stayed, use my affiliate links to support my work.
Personal favourites
Hotel Garní Zeni - this family run hotels is in my heart, I’ve been a few times over the years and I definitely recommend it. The hotel is near the cable car Pradalago and 200mt from the town centre. Find availability here (Expedia) or here (Agoda)
Hotel Arnica - another favourite, BEST location in town, literally on Piazza del Brenta Alto and a stone throw from Piazza Righi, lovely SPA, nice rooms and also they have a bar downstairs open all day. Find availability here (Expedia) or here (Agoda)
On the Luxury end of the scale
Hey, we all work all year round and sometimes all you want is to be pampered and served by the time you arrive until the time you leave, or maybe you have small kids so that nursery service hits home. Sometimes these are the only ones you can find a spot if you book late. Anyway:
Majestic Mountain Charme Hotel - literally in the middle of Piazza Righi, this property is as central as the local COOP, beautiful lounge with live music, beautiful top floor SPA, what else. They should book me for a run of gigs but hey.. I’ll keep waiting. Book it here (Expedia) or here (Agoda)
Hotel Spinale - beautiful property, recently renovated, gorgeous SPA and, literally opposite the Spinale cable car which is where you normally arrive in the evening if you’re coming from Grosté or Spinale, maybe after a drink at Jumper. Find availability here (Expedia) or here (Agoda)
Oberosler Design Hotel - this one is also gorgeous, wonderful SPA and they also have a bar and night club running all night. This one is also opposite the Spinale cable car station. Find availability here (Expedia) or here (Agoda)
Savoia Palace - A staple of Campiglio’s luxury hospitality, super central, facing Piazza Sissi, which is the most central square, next to Piazza Righi. An old classic, old fashioned, classic European luxury hotel. You’ll love it. Book here (Expedia) or here (Agoda)
Cerana Relax Hotel - completely renovated recently with the addition of a brand new SPA on the top floor, Cerana is now at the top of the list for luxury in Campiglio I think. Find availability here (Expedia) or here (Agoda)
Hotel Chalet del Sogno - also located at the back of the Spinale cable car station, this is a luxury 5* hotel, beautiful location and top rated property. A must try, book it here (Expedia) or here (Agoda)
The newest
Casa Cook is one of the newest in town I believe, completely rebuilt last year, now freshly opened. This is the ONLY adults only property in Campiglio so if you want a child free breakfast, this is the one to go for. Check availability here (Expedia) or here (Agoda)
Hotel Garní Caminetto - also recently reopened after a TOTAL rebuilding, this is garní solution. The location is closer to the 5 Laghi cable car. Book it here (Expedia) or here (Agoda)
Where to eat
Home Stube - brewery and restaurant, not too far from central Campiglio,
Ristorante Le Roi – lively atmosphere and great pizzas/pastas.
Il Pappagallo - another historical Restaurant in Campiglio, great menu, awesome pizzas, great meats and pasta dishes. Perfect if you are a LOT of people
Antico Focolare - another ‘must’ go Restaurant in Campiglio, again perfect if you are in a big group, this restaurant has a maze of underground rooms, wonderful wine selection too.
Al 30 - Osteria & Friends - un altra tappa fissa, menu here - you can’t book, but the place is friendly, great food, great beers and wines. Perfect for a meal, an aperitif or a nibble with a bunch of drinks after dinner.
Cascina Zeledria - wonderful ‘cascina’ famous for their ‘hot stone cooking’ dish, you basically get a selection of meats, vegetables, polenta and you can grill it yourself at the table (quite the smoky experience but a MUST TRY when in Campiglio). Melted cheese and sauces on the side too. All of this up in the mountains, so you can drive there in the Summer, but winter I think they come get you in a “gatto delle nevi” - those snow caterpillars that level the ski tracks - another must try experience in itself.
El Volt de Baita – hearty Italian and regional dishes. wonderful atmosphere, super central, another one that I visit every year! :)
Cantina dello Suisse - another one I don’t fail to visit every year, their menu is fantastic (here) - we normally go for their “beef tartarre”, prepped and served fresh at the table
Ristorante Alfiero – traditional Italian menu.
Rifugio Casinei – classic alpine dining with great views (also a summer trekking stop).
Lanterna Live Restaurant & Pizza – relaxed spot popular with locals & travelers.
Sissi Bistro Bar – casual drinks and bites after a day outdoors.
Dolomieu, Il Gallo Cedrone and Due Pini – more upscale dining options featured in the Michelin guide for the region.
